Acceptable Use Policy

guarda.net is a fraud-prevention and network-hygiene tool. This policy defines the boundaries of legitimate use and applies to every account, free or paid.

Last updated: August 2026

Intended use cases

  • Screening sign-ups, checkouts and payments for proxy, VPN, hosting or TOR traffic.
  • Protecting game servers, forums and communities from ban evasion and abuse.
  • Filtering bot and scraper traffic, and enforcing content licensing rules.
  • Internal analytics, compliance and security investigations.

Prohibited activities

  • Using results to discriminate against people on the basis of a protected characteristic, or to make credit, employment, insurance or housing decisions.
  • Stalking, doxxing, harassment or attempting to identify a specific individual behind an IP address. Our data is network-level, not person-level.
  • Reselling, sublicensing, mirroring or redistributing raw API responses as a competing dataset or lookup service.
  • Scraping, bulk-caching or reverse-engineering the Service beyond what your plan allows.
  • Circumventing quotas, rate limits or authentication, including sharing API keys across unrelated organisations or creating multiple free accounts to increase quota.
  • Any use that supports illegal activity, malware distribution, credential stuffing, carding, or attacks against third-party infrastructure.

Data protection

IP addresses can be personal data under the GDPR and similar laws. If you submit end-user IP addresses you act as controller for that data and must have a lawful basis (typically legitimate interest in fraud prevention), disclose the use in your own privacy notice, and respond to data-subject requests. See our Privacy Policy for what we store on your behalf.

Automated decisions

Risk scores are probabilistic. Do not use them as the only factor in a decision that significantly affects a person. Provide a review or appeal path for blocked users.

Enforcement

We may investigate suspected violations, throttle or suspend API keys, and terminate accounts. Serious violations result in termination without refund and, where required, reporting to the relevant authorities. Report abuse to abuse@guarda.net.
